Skies Captured, video installation at Beylerbey Palace, 2001 / 7. Istanbul Biennial
Images of the western and eastern skies over Istanbul were projected onto the floor of the space. The picture is relayed to be projected directly from outdoors, without being recorded. The aim was to show the skies of Europe and Asia side by side, the exhibition space was in the area around a palace in the Asian side of Istanbul. The work was intended for contemplation, the September terror attacks that took place just before the Biennial opened altered he nature of the work.
